Sale Spotlight!

I apoligize for the lack of posting - it will probably be like this for the next few weeks while I figure out all of the logistics of moving from DC to NY and finding a new job! (Scary! Ah!)

Today I'd like to spotlight a pretty popular brand that I love - but sometimes don't want to spend that much on - Free People. Whether you are totally boho chic or like to keep it simple and classic, Free People offers something for everyone. And until tomorrow night, get up to 55% off at Gilt. My pick: the Hello Gorgeous top, originally $78, on Gilt for $39.

QUICK TIP!

Have a pair of pants or a dress that need to be hemmed only about an inch?! No need to go to the seamstress for that! Turn the garment inside out and fold along where the original hem is sewn in. This will help to keep the hem straight across. Fasten the folden up part with safety pins and stitch in a new hem with thread the same color as the fabric. Make sure to keep the stitches small so they won't appear uneven. Take out the safety pins, turn the garmets rightside up, iron along the hemline and you're good to go!

The Infinity Dress!

One dress and a number of ways to wear it! That's the infinity dress (though possibilities are not exactly infinite.) I think this should be a staple in every girls wardrobe because it allows you to get creative and experiment with different styles. It's also like getting 8 (or 9 or 10) dresses for the price of one, so it's worth spending a little more money on. Until tomorrow on ideeli, get THIS fabulous Tart infinity maxi dress for $79 (originally $246). They also have a shorter style available for $69 (originally $194.)

Smart Splurge of the Day!

Sex and the City may have brought back the nameplate necklace, but there is still something kind of tacky about it. Slightly more refined, I prefer a simple "R" charm (or whatever the first letter of your name is.) On a necklace is expected, but on a ring - that's something else! And that is why for my smart splurge, I would go for this charm ring by Daniela Swaebe. Originally $180, it is $82 on Gilt today.

A cheap treat for your nails

And nothing to feel guilty about! As of late I've been doing my own mani-pedis. I didn't for a long time because I've always thought they never came out the same, but then I realized a lot of the magic is in the polish! Some high quality nail polishes can run you $8+, but there is no need to shell out that much on one color for the sake of getting a salon quality manicure at home. My new favorite nail polish brand - Sinful Colors - costs $1.99 per bottle, and I've seen it at Target and Walgreens. For that price, you can afford to change your mind about your nail color every week! :)

StyleMint

So, I just signed up for StyleMint today, the monthly t-shirt website from Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen. It's like ShoeDazzle/JustFab/Sole Society but for shirts, and it's only $29.95 a month. Unlike those sites, upon signing up you get your picks right away. The shirts in my showroom were cute, but nothing too exciting. I'm interested to keep an eye on it and see what I get in the coming months. Anyone else try StyleMint yet?!

Essentials!: a Fedora

Sometimes there is no amount of hair spray, gel, mousse, shampoo, conditioner, or any other product that can keep a bad hair day away. On those days, a hat can be your best friend. Or maybe you had a few too many the ngiht before and want to hide your face a 'lil bit. Hats are perfect for that too. No need to ruin a chic outfit with a baseball cap... Opt for a fedora instead. Target and H&M always have 'em in stores. I also stumbled across THIS ONE on Hautelook that I like a lot. It's from the San Diego Hat Company and is only $7 (originally $31.) No matter what your taste, this is one accessory that won't be breaking the budget.

Sale Spotlight!

I love the comfortable, carefree designs of My Tribe. Imagine feeling like you're dressed to kill while wearing the softest fabric you've ever worn - that's what My Tribe is like. And ideeli has this label on sale until tomorrow. My pick: the PLATINA dress in black (Originally $90, now $29)

Shoedazzle Picks for July!

The weather is getting warmer and the shoes are getting hotter! Here are my picks for July!...

Tillie - This wedge is perfect for summer. Pick her up in pink to be sweet and flirty or amp your sex appeal with this shoe in black.
Elena - I love all things animal print, so this snake skinned shoe is right up my alley. Pair her with a strapless LBD. The best part about this shoe -- it will transition into Fall perfectly as well.
Lela - Every girl needs a pair of fun flats, and that is exactly what this shoe is. My favorite style is black with the tan bow.
Brazilia - This bag is classic with an edge. Gold chain details keep it girly while studs add a badass biker chick feel. Available in red or black, you'll be a knockout either way.
Rock Star - the name says it all. You'll be majorly blinging with this jewelry!

Smart Splurge of the Day!

Every girl needs a good mini-skirt, and what better way to stand out in a crowd then to (barely) cover your gorgeous legs and bum in sequins! Add on a simple black top and some heels and you'll be ready to go. The best part, this is a year-round look - go bare legged in the summer and through on black tights in the winter. Worth the splurge is THIS cut25 sequin skirt. Originally $280, now on Gilt for $89.

My New Handbag Love!

...Now I just need for it to go on sale. I'm absolutely obsessed with the Big Buddha Pearl handbag. It has enough room for everything without looking bulky, and comes with an attachable strap so you can wear it as a crossbody as well. It retails for $90, which isn't too pricey to begin with, but I have a feeling Macy's will be putting it on sale soon.

Check out my new obsession HERE

Smart Splurge of the Day!

Need a dress to pair with your fresh off the beach glow?! Look no further than the fun, flirty and bright styles of T Bags dresses. I personally tend to stay away from bright colors but can't stay away from these dresses. I would own more if they weren't so pricey. Lucky for us, Gilt has them on sale today, for about 50% off! My pick, the maxi dress of course! Originally $207, now $109. Why is such an expensive dress you can only wear one season each year a smart splurge?!?! I don't think these will be going out of style anytime soon, and it gives you more of a reason to take that wintertime island vacation!

15% off at Old Navy

Old Navy is one of those places I rarely shop at because I used to find their clothes questionable, however, lately they seem to be stepping their game up. Plus it's a great place to stock up on basics like flip flops and tank tops. Today and tomorrow, take 15% off your online purchase with code ONBIG15. Spend over $50, and get free shipping as well!

Tuesday, June 14, 2011

Comfy and Chic!

Heels got your feet feeling sore and want a pair of CUTE flats with the proper support. Look no further. Dr Scholls actually has some super cute sandals! My favorite are these black ruffle flip flops, currently available an ideeli for $22 (originally $39.)

After a rough night out (on your feet in your highest heels,) slip on a maxi dress, your largest sunglasses, and these flipflops to be as comfy as can be while soothing your hangover with mimosas at brunch!

Monday, June 13, 2011

Who says you can't look cute while working out!?!

Long gone are the days when you wore an old tshirt and ratty gym shorts to work out. However, there is no need to drop serious cash on a pair of designer yoga pants or a shirt with the newest sweat blocking technology. Head over to Target and check out their C9 by Champion line. You'll look just as chic and no one needs to know you spent much less than they thought!

Friday, June 10, 2011

My favorite two words... MACYS SALE!

For some reason the excitement over a Macy's sale never gets old to me. Now through Sunday, take an extra 20% off your purchase, as well as get deals throughout the store.

I don't think I'll be able to make it over there this weekend - so find some deals for me! :)

Budget friendly Rompers!

Rompers are probably the #1 trend for summer, and it's easier to pull off than you think. They started popping up last summer but now it seems rompers are more popular than ever. Think this may be a passing fad? There's no reason to empty your wallet on one. Here are some of my favorite budget friendly rompers...

Mossimo Smocked Romper from Target, $19.99 - wear it with gladiator sandals to the beach or dress it up with a pair of wedges for a night out on the town. This romper is definitely festive! Go for the guava berry color, it goes great with that beachy tan glow.
Mossimo Kimono Sleeved Romper from Target, $19.99 - I LOVE the plunging neckline on this romper, and the kimono sleeves make it look a little more dressed up. Rock your highest heels for a girls night out in this little number!
Vintage Sweetheart Romper from Forever 21, $19.90 - Vintage, classic, cute are all words that come to mind when I see this romper. Wear with low-wedged espadrilles and you'll look irresistable.
Island Flowers Romper from Forever 21, $18.90 - Florals are HUGE this season and this romper is right on point with that trend!
6 Degrees Romper from Macys, $20.99 - the geometric print on this romper is TOO cute, in that hippie chic sort of way. Also, if you order online and use code SUMMER at checkout, you get an additional 20% off! That's an added bonus :)

Ann Taylor LOFT just keeps the sales going!!

One of my favorite places to catch a good sale - Ann Taylor LOFT - just keeps 'em coming! Not only do they have tees and tanks on sale 3 for $35, but they are also offering 30% off all of their clearance sale items!

Trust me - I just bought 3 shirts and a pair of shorts for $58 :)

Tuesday, June 7, 2011

You paid HOW MUCH?!

Sure, the signature red sole of a Louboutin means a lot to some ladies, but there are plenty of chic designs out there missing that one little detail. For example, the studded pumps that have been all over the red carpet lately.... Christian Louboutin Studded Slingback Pumps, $995

Spiky Stud Platform Pumps from gojane.com, $41.30

You might be missing a red sole (And they sell remedies for that!) but you will have a shoe that is just as chic!

Quick Tip!

Storing all of your knee high boots until the cool weather comes again? Keep their shape by slipping a rolled up magazine into the shaft!

Monday, June 6, 2011

Who Wears Short Shorts?!!

(Hopefully) You will be! Shorts both online and in stores at Arden B are 50% off! Go on and show off those legs :)

A Girl Can Dream!

TGIF! In an attempt to distract myself from daydreaming about getting out of work, I'm now daydreaming about shoes I wish I could own. If money was no object you bet THESE Missoni flats would be at the top of my shopping list. Now if only the sale price (originally $520, $249 on Gilt) would come down a little lower ;)

Thursday, June 2, 2011

Sale Spotlight!

Look like a rockstar! And pay much less than they do! Today on Hautelook is a blowout sale on Gwen Stefani's Harajuku Lovers line. ....And if it's from Gwen you know it's got to be FABULOUS. Be casual, chic and edgy with clothes from this line. My pick: THIS yellow slouchy t-shirt, originally $62, on sale for $18!

Wednesday, June 1, 2011

50% off Mineral Makeup!

50% off all mineral makeup from eyeslipsface.com!!! Use HALFMIN at checkout for orders over $20 by June 6th, 2011 to catch this deal! I can personally say the line of mineral makeup from eyeslipsface is AMAZING :)

My ShoeDazzle Picks for June!

Summer's approaching! And it's time to get comfy with my ShoeDazzle picks!

Patra - add a bit of bohemian style to your look with these wedges. I prefer the pop of color the red adds. Wear with something flowy (but not too long to hide the shoe!)
Becca - cutouts are huge this season, and Becca is right on trend. Would you describe it as a shoe or a sandal?! - I don't know - but it's CUTE!
Isola - last but not least is of course a heel (You know I can't live without my heels.) Isola has a lower height but studs give this shoe an edge. This shoe also transitions perfectly from work to a girls night out!
Mazaltan - take this bag by the handle... or strap and tote around everything you could think of. Mazaltan can handle it all. The color blocking and stitching make this a boho-chic essential.
Flight Patterns - feathers - you either love 'em or you hate 'em... and I LOVE 'em! The turquoise feathered earrings are a perfect pop of color and the beaded bracelets are cute as well.

Happy dazzling!

The best part about this outfit!?!?!?..... It's well under the limit of $60, costing, in total, $43.49!

Sale Spotlight!

I'm not sure if I've ever seen anything like the clothing by Desigual, and that's a good thing. It's like pop-art you can wear! And today/tomorrow, it's on sale at ideeli! My pick: the striped tunic, originally $134, now $69.

Tuesday, May 24, 2011

Essentials!: Black Flats

Black Flats. You can wear them to work with a shift dress, to run errands with jeans, with leggings just lounging around, anytime, anywhere, anyday! They are probably the most versatile thing in any girls wardrobe. It'd be nice to splurge on a great pair, but finding cheap and reliable ones is easier than you think. I had a pair similar to THESE from Payless for two years, wore them frequently, and loved them. Best part - only $16.99!!!

Smart Splurge of the Day!

Hangers might seem like a weird thing to splurge on, considering you can get them some places for 50 cents each. However, if you're like me and you have an ever expanding wardrobe and shrinking amount of closet space, great space saving hangers will quickly seem well worth it.

I recieved my first Huggable Hangers from my mom a few years ago and was amazed that clothes never slip off of them. It wasn't until recently, when I moved and had to fit a walk-in closet's worth of clothes into half a tiny closet, that I realized what amazing space savers they are! Seriously...... They take up half the space of bulky plastic hangers!

Usually $18.95 for a 24-pack on HSN, stocking up can get a little pricey. Lucky for us, they are having a special deal -- a closet makeover set, which includes 96 hangers, among other things, for $79.95 (which can be divided into 4 payments of $19.99.)

It's worth it, I promise :)

Friday, May 20, 2011

Fun with Glasses!

Picking out a pair of glasses can be stressful. They need to not take away from your face and still match everything you wear. Sometimes don't you just want to go a little crazy?!!

You're in luck! RueLaLa is having a designer eyewear sale today featuring Betsey Johnson, Lilly Pulitzer and Corrine McCormack! Most glasses are under $40. Why don't you do something a little crazy then! My pick: a set of 2 pairs of Betsey Johnson glasses for $39.90 (originally $90.)

While wearing these, you'll be guarenteed to be doing a lot of "smizing." :)

Thursday, May 19, 2011

Sale Spotlight!

Spring cleaning had you putting away all of your heavy knit sweaters, and now, in time for summer, it's time to stock up on all things crochetted. Check out ideeli today for their crochet chic sale, featuring everything from dresses to shoes to accessories to tops. And the best part, everything is under $75. My pick, the Casual Couture crochetted black maxi dress, originally $148, on sale for $45.

Wednesday, May 18, 2011

Essentials!: The Skinny Belt

There are things every girl should have in her closet, but you shouldn't break the bank in doing so...

One thing I think every girl should have - a skinny belt. Use it to create shape when wearing flowy tunics.... Wear it on top of your cardigan as an accent... And of course use it to hold up your jeans (I personally prefer skinny belts with jeans because they don't take away as much from the actual outfit.)

The best part about skinny belts - they're relatively inexpensive. THIS one from Forever 21 is $3.80 and it's easy to find many in the under $10 range.

Tuesday, May 17, 2011

You paid HOW MUCH?!

White is hot - there's no doubt about it. While all over white might not be your thing, white accessories are much more versatile and easier to rock. My favorite: the white crossbody bag. You might think a nice leather one would run you a lot of money, but it's easier than you think to have everyone fooled....

Rebecca Minkoff Main Squeeze Crossbody Bag - $395

Rampage Daphne Crossbody Briefcase - $49 (on sale on ideeli)

Sure, the bags may look a little different, but they still have the glitz factor, and no one will know how little you spent to look so good :)

A Summer Wedge with a Kind Soul

I've posted a number of entries about my love for Shoedazzle. And the site just keeps finding new ways to give. In addition to the shoes to benefit Lupus I showed you last week, and the Autism Awareness shoes the month before, they have teamed up with another celebrity to style a shoe and keep paying it forward.

This time around, they've partnered with Kristin Cavalleri to create the perfect summer wedge. Bardot is the definition of girly with her pink ruffles and the high wedge gives it a hint of sex appeal. Making this shoe even sweeter is that 100% of profits go to OneKid OneWorld, an organization helping kids around the world.

Bardot will be in all members showrooms for the remainder of the month, but I have a feeling this perfect shoe for summer nights will go FAST.

Smart Splurge of the Day!

A truly splurgeworthy handbag can be hard to find! I splurgeworthy handbag for 1/3 the retail price is even harder to find, and even more worth it! I love this L.A.M.B Bennett shopper tote. It has pockets for everything but still looks sleek, and the metallic leather will take you through all seasons and dress up even the most casual of outfits. The BEST part!!!!... The bag retails for $428, but is currently on sale at Gilt for $129!

Get Summer Ready for 80% off!

The summer is fast approaching (Can you believe Memorial Day Weekend is sooo close?!?!) which means that bathing suit season is around the corner! Just in time, eBay Vault has a swimwear sale, offering designer swimwear for up to 80% off! My pick: THIS Rachel Pappo floral bikini, originally $142, on sale for $39.99

Friday, May 13, 2011

QUICK TIP!

Has a trend passed? Or have you grown tired of a certain item? Do your clothes not fit anymore? CONSIGN THEM! Many consignment shops sell clothes for half the retail price, and then you keep a portion of the sale!

Don't feel discouraged. Just because a consignment shop says they only take certain brands, they will usually accept consignments from a broader variety of designers. You might be surprised by how much money you make!

Wednesday, May 11, 2011

2 New ShoeDazzles for a Cause!

I'm a little late to the party since I was supposed to post this yesterday, World Lupus Day, but ShoeDazzle is now offering members two purple shoes to benefit the cause. Proceeds from the Charm and Torica shoes go to the Lupus Foundation of America.

Charm is a metallic purple flat that can spice up the plainest of outfits. Torica is a metallic purple heel perfect for leather jackets and skinny jeans. No matter how you rock either, you'll feel good knowing you're doing good!

If you're a ShoeDazzle member, both shoes will be featured in your showroom for the remainder of the month.

Go from day-time to night-time in sleek dresses that will have men at the office and at happy hour unable to take their eyes off of you. Suzi Chin's dresses are versatile and chic, and perfect for this season.... and on sale at Hautelook today! My pick, the check neck dress with ruffle detail in red - orginally $118, on sale for $47.

Friday, May 6, 2011

Sale Spotlight!

Being comfy and feeling flirty are two things that don't usually go together. However, NY-based clothing company Sophomore manages to blend the two together effortlessly. Flowy knits that will drape you perfectly, soft cotton with zippers to add an edginess - this collection has it all! Even better - it's on sale today and tomorrow at Hautelook!

My pick: The zipper dress in black. Originally $74; on sale for $18!

Target's Newest Go International Collaboration!

If you thought I was excited about Calypso for Target.. I'm 1,000x more excited about their next Go International collab.... MISSONI! It's like my dream is becoming a reality - because on sale Missoni dresses are still $400, which is way too much for this frugalista (even on a splurge.) Expect to see lots of their signature zig-zag prints in the ****400 PIECE*** collection!!!!!! To give you an idea of how big that is, the Calypso collection was 100 pieces and seemed HUGE.

Mark your calendars now, the collection goes on sale on September 13!

Tuesday, May 3, 2011

Sale Spotlight!

You can be young, fabulous and broke.... and still afford Young, Fabulous & Broke! The sportswear line, favored by the Hollywood set, is on sale today at Gilt.

My pick, this two-toned tunic... Originally $172, now $49!

Monday, May 2, 2011

Be Derby Ready for Under $60!

The Kentucky Derby is this Saturday, and you know what that means - fabulous sundresses paired with even more fabulous hats! Want to be the best dressed at your event, here's an outfit idea for under $60...

Lets start off with the dress. Pastels are the norm but stand out in THIS black and white sundress from Forever 21 (only $19.80)
Onto the shoes... You can't roam around the infield in a pair of heels so you'll need to stick to wedges. THESE from GoJane are cute without being too high, so you won't be teetering around after a few too many mint juleps ($17.30)
Onto the hat... Start off simple and make it your own. THIS one from Target is a good starting point ($14.99).
You can find a brightly colored ribbon to accessorize or pin a flower to it! I like THIS one from Forever 21 ($4.80.)

In total, this Derby Day outfit costs: $56.89, and the pieces are simple enough that you'll be able to use them again and again!

(Royally) Smart Splurge of the Day!

I still haven't gotten over my royal wedding fever, so forgive me for this one... Reasons why I love Catherine's engagement ring: 1) it's beatiful (DUH!) and 2) it's sapphire (I'm born in September.) While getting a replica might seem a little tacky, this CZ by Kenneth Jay Lane necklace inspired by the ring is a nice substitute. Even better, it's on sale for $69 at Gilt (originally $139).

Now all I need is a sale on McQueen wedding gowns ;)

My Shoedazzle picks for May!

With the weather warming up more and more by the day, it's time to show a little more skin and have more fun with your accessories! Here are my picks for May!:

VALERIA: I have a feeling white shoes are going to be huge for the rest of spring and into the summer, and these strappy shoes are right on trend.
QUINCE: Channel your inner Coco Chanel with these quilted heels. The bow adds a bit of whimsy. (Full disclosure: I BOUGHT THESE!) :)
KATERINA: Add a pop of color to your summer wardrobe with the greens and pinks of this fun sandal.
PALISADES: One bag, two ways to wear it. Palisades is big enough to hold all of your essentials but still manages to be chic without looking bulky. 4 bright colors to choose from... I still can't decide which one is my favorite
AFTERNOON TEA: Feel like royalty in this romantic jewelry set.

Happy shopping!

Smart Splurge of the Day!

The occasion shoe: It should be simple and pretty, yet still lets the dress shine. It should be versatile, and comfortable. It is a splurge worthy purchase because if you get a good pair, you'll be wearing them from gala to gala for years to come! My pick for a great pair of occasion shoes: These Badgley Mischka Ollie Satin Peep toe sandals! Black satin matches almost everything you pair with it, and the bling gives 'em some sass! Originally $190, on sale at RueLaLa for $79.90

Thursday, April 28, 2011

Sale Spotlight!

Today on Hautelook: Romeo & Juliet Couture apparel & handbags!

Why you should check it out: Their clothing is simple yet edgy, made out of comfortable fabrics. Think flowy yet sexy - floral tops, cargo pants, and lots of maxi dresses!

My pick: this maxi dress with beaded neckline (orginally $158, now %55)

I love.... Christian Siriano (for Payless!)

When I was younger, it was considered uncool to buy shoes at Payless... Now, not only do I wear them proudly, I love telling people how stylish their budget friendly shoes can be. In recent years they have been stepping up their game with designer collections that range from simple to pushing the envelope. My favorite of all, Christian Siriano for Payless. You probably know him from Project Runway a few years back. He seemed self-centered at times but he has the talent to back it up - and his Payless collections have proved that. Boots, wedges, flats, heels, prints, solids and handbags! For the past few years he's done it all. The price point is a little above the usual Payless prices, but considering his dresses sell for thousands of dollars, it's still a good value ($34.99-$59.99) Check out what Payless is currently offering from him HERE

A Girl Can Dream!

So... finding a "smart splurge" every day is getting to be a bit much with my hectic schedule, so for the time being it will probably only be a few a week... along with a new feature, "A Girl Can Dream," in which I showcase the things I would spend my money on if I had no budget. Expect it to be extra fabulous... and heartbreaking ;) As always, it will never be full price (some things never change!) First thing on my dream list, these Jerome C. Rousseau Matador pumps. They are basically all my favorite things in a nutshell -- strappy heels and animal print. Although not totally splurgeworthy, they still are a deal on Gilt for $349 (originally $795) Like the title of the post says.... A girl can dream!!

Smart Splurge of the Day!

The Shirtdress. It's masculine yet feminine. It's casual yet dressy. You can wear it winter, spring, summer and fall. It's timeless. Finding one you love, it's harder to do than you would think. Whether you opt for black or ivory, odds are you'll love this Andrew Marc shirt dress. My favorite detail is the big bow -- makes it flirtier than most. Originally $340, on sale at Hautelook for $85.

Smart Splurge of the Day!

If asked which celebrity's style I like most, I would probably say Nicole Richie. She can be boho-chic yet casual but can glam it up as well. Her clothing line, Winter Kate, is by far my favorite of all of the recent celebrity clothing lines. This cardigan, is one of my favorite pieces. It is not a cardigan in the usual sense but it is very simple and chic. Originally $145, it is on sale now at Gilt for $79.

Shoes for a Good Cause

Keeping with today's theme of shoes...

From time to time Shoedazzle releases a celebrity designed shoe, with proceeds going to the charity of their choice. This time aroung the designer is Jenny McCarthy, and her shoe Fearless, are benefiting Generation Rescue, which aims to help children with autism.

This is definitely a shoe for the "Fearless" woman. Its spikes and studs will add edge to anything you pair it with. If you are a Shoedazzle member, it is in your showroom now. Check it out!

So excited about my newest purchase! :)

Back in high school I was obsessed with Converses. High top, low top, black, red, patterned, white -- I loved them all. Since then, my Cons have worn out and I've been looking to add a pair to my shoe collection for a while. Lucky for me, Gilt has them on sale today. I picked up a pair of the lace-less/slip-ons by John Varvatos. And of course, I had to pick them up in my favorite color (or lack thereof)... black! Best part, today is the last day of Gilt's $5.95 shipping AND I had a $25 credit................... Sooooo, they only cost me $29.95 ;)

Smart Splurge of the Day!

A nude shoe never goes out of style. A peep toe pump never goes out of style. Mix the two together, and you have a wardrobe staple for years to come. This Catherine Amberleigh patent leather peep toe pump is simple yet sexy and will dress up whatever outfit you pair it with. Originally $220, on sale at Gilt for $99.

QUICK TIP!

Want to extend the life of your shoes? ALWAYS make sure the heel pads aren't worn down. Replace them right before you start to see the metal poking through by going to any shoe repair place. Replacing the heel pads only costs between $5-10 depending on where you go. If you pop in often enough and get to know the people who work there, odds are they'll throw in some perks for free. My shoe repair place shines my shoes and fixes the scuffs and tears on the heel for no extra cost.

Smart Splurge of the Day!

The ring I want to wear is silver.... but the metal details on the dress are gold! Such a dilemma -- what's a girl to do?!?! My solution, buy two-toned jewelry! Mixing gold and silver on separately pieces is not a good look, but if they're on the same it's chic chic chic!!! And that is why this Soixante Neuf ring caught my eye. Originally $144, it is $70 on Gilt.

Billion Dollar Babes, another fabulous members only sample sale site, has a sale today fit for a (future) princess... Head on over for hats, shoes and sunglasses all inspired by the looks of Kate Middleton! You'll be feeling like royalty in no time!

e-Boutique Spotlight

Looking for fun jewelry that won't break the bank?!?!! -- Look no further than Fabuless! The website is affiliated with Girl Props, the totally awesome NYC accessory store, and everything costs under $1.99. Stock up on bangles, earrings, headbands - even sunglasses! Some of it may look a little tacky, but at those prices, it's all in good fun :)

Smart Splurge of the Day!

A good black pump is hard to come by, so when you find one, go ahead and splurge! I tend to go cheap on a lot of my shoes, but my work pumps... those are always $80+. When you find a great shoe at an even better sale, you just gotta go for it! My pick today is this black Josephine leather pump. Originally $275, on sale today at RueLaLa for $129.90.

Smart Splurge of the Day!

Trenchcoats are timeless but it's fun to play with updated styles. This one from Poleci intrigues me because 1. it's denim and 2. it's draped. At first that may sound unattractive but the fabric is light enough and the drape refined that it actually really works. Originally $435, on sale for $149.90 at RueLaLa.

Smart Splurge of the Day!

I rarely advocate spending more than $15 on sunglasses, but these have been on my "I would if I could" list for SO long that seeing them on sale warrants smart splurge status (for me at least!) Tom Ford Mia sunglasses, orginally $325, on sale for $99 at Swirl.

Are you a member of the Filene's Basement Fan Club? If not, this might be some incentive to join. Fan Club members have access to a coupon that gives them 15% off their purchase through the end of April!

Smart Splurge of the Day!

Diamonds may be a girl's best friend, but a quality piece of costume jewelry can hold a very special place in your heart. The king of costume jewelry, by far, is Kenneth Jay Lane, with styles that range from classy and understated to glitzy and TOTALLY over the top. My pick today: this CZ by KJL graduated oval necklace. It is simple yet glamorous, and no one need to know those aren't real diamonds ;) Originally $498, it is on sale at ideeli for $275.

Great finds in Target Clearance

Clearance sections are usually hit or miss, but if you take the time to really look, odds are you'll find a few gems. I usually have a lot of luck with the Target clearance section. Here are my most recent finds...
Gilligan&O'Malley nightgown: originally $17.99; clearance $4.48
Mossimo sandals: originally $19.99; clearance $13.98
Merona ruffle skirt: originally $24.99; clearance $6.24

And if you do the math for those 3 things, it was just over $25 with tax :)

You paid how much?!

Platform pumps are one (slightly painful) trend that doesn't seem to be going away. We can credit YSL for bringing this look back, as their platform pumps are most popular on the red carpet with celebrities. You don't have to break the bank to rock this look though...

Yves Sant Laurent Tribute Brown pump, $760 (Nordstrom)

Michael Antonio Leno platform Brown pump, $39.95(Endless)

Smart Splurge of the Day!

The clothes in your closet are cute... shouldn't the rest of your room be? Bedding is splurge-worthy because it's something you're going to use for years. Why not just go head and spring for something nice! I personally like to keep things simple with the occasional pop of color. The offerings from Blissliving fit right into my design asthetic. Ruelala has a sale on their bedding sets, originally $210-$310, now on sale for $119.90-$159.90. My personal favorite is the "Anis" comforter set (pictured.)

Smart Splurge of the Day!

Universally figure-flattering, wrap dresses should be a girl's best friend (next to diamonds of course.) Wear it to work with comfy flats or sass it up with some super high heels for a date. This Mara Hoffman wrap dress stood out to me because of the print - it's so fun! I should also note that it is a faux wrap dress - so you still get all the figure flattering benefits of it being a wrap, and you don't have to worry about a strong gust of wind blowing up the outer layer or somehow accidentally untieing the dress. Originally $308, its available at Swirl for $79.
