Sale Spotlight!

I apoligize for the lack of posting - it will probably be like this for the next few weeks while I figure out all of the logistics of moving from DC to NY and finding a new job! (Scary! Ah!)

Today I'd like to spotlight a pretty popular brand that I love - but sometimes don't want to spend that much on - Free People. Whether you are totally boho chic or like to keep it simple and classic, Free People offers something for everyone. And until tomorrow night, get up to 55% off at Gilt. My pick: the Hello Gorgeous top, originally $78, on Gilt for $39.

QUICK TIP!

Have a pair of pants or a dress that need to be hemmed only about an inch?! No need to go to the seamstress for that! Turn the garment inside out and fold along where the original hem is sewn in. This will help to keep the hem straight across. Fasten the folden up part with safety pins and stitch in a new hem with thread the same color as the fabric. Make sure to keep the stitches small so they won't appear uneven. Take out the safety pins, turn the garmets rightside up, iron along the hemline and you're good to go!

The Infinity Dress!

One dress and a number of ways to wear it! That's the infinity dress (though possibilities are not exactly infinite.) I think this should be a staple in every girls wardrobe because it allows you to get creative and experiment with different styles. It's also like getting 8 (or 9 or 10) dresses for the price of one, so it's worth spending a little more money on. Until tomorrow on ideeli, get THIS fabulous Tart infinity maxi dress for $79 (originally $246). They also have a shorter style available for $69 (originally $194.)

Smart Splurge of the Day!

Sex and the City may have brought back the nameplate necklace, but there is still something kind of tacky about it. Slightly more refined, I prefer a simple "R" charm (or whatever the first letter of your name is.) On a necklace is expected, but on a ring - that's something else! And that is why for my smart splurge, I would go for this charm ring by Daniela Swaebe. Originally $180, it is $82 on Gilt today.

A cheap treat for your nails

And nothing to feel guilty about! As of late I've been doing my own mani-pedis. I didn't for a long time because I've always thought they never came out the same, but then I realized a lot of the magic is in the polish! Some high quality nail polishes can run you $8+, but there is no need to shell out that much on one color for the sake of getting a salon quality manicure at home. My new favorite nail polish brand - Sinful Colors - costs $1.99 per bottle, and I've seen it at Target and Walgreens. For that price, you can afford to change your mind about your nail color every week! :)

StyleMint

So, I just signed up for StyleMint today, the monthly t-shirt website from Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen. It's like ShoeDazzle/JustFab/Sole Society but for shirts, and it's only $29.95 a month. Unlike those sites, upon signing up you get your picks right away. The shirts in my showroom were cute, but nothing too exciting. I'm interested to keep an eye on it and see what I get in the coming months. Anyone else try StyleMint yet?!

Essentials!: a Fedora

Sometimes there is no amount of hair spray, gel, mousse, shampoo, conditioner, or any other product that can keep a bad hair day away. On those days, a hat can be your best friend. Or maybe you had a few too many the ngiht before and want to hide your face a 'lil bit. Hats are perfect for that too. No need to ruin a chic outfit with a baseball cap... Opt for a fedora instead. Target and H&M always have 'em in stores. I also stumbled across THIS ONE on Hautelook that I like a lot. It's from the San Diego Hat Company and is only $7 (originally $31.) No matter what your taste, this is one accessory that won't be breaking the budget.
